Bashar Makhay

I’m Bashar Makhay. I lead communications, digital strategy, and the systems behind them, including websites, CRMs, and stakeholder communications. I’ve scaled audiences, produced large cross-sector convenings, and deployed platforms that make it easier for institutions to show their work and reach the right people.

I’m currently the Senior Communications and Technology Officer at the NYC Preparedness & Recovery Institute, and I previously served as Director of Communications for Columbia University’s Office of Government and Community Affairs.

I’m also a Board Member of Tarab NYC, a community organization for Queer SWANA people in NYC.

I work at the intersection of communications and technology, setting direction, building tools, and delivering clear narratives with the infrastructure to sustain them.
